Fuglsang on way back after testicular inflammation: "Should be fine for Tour de France"

Jakob Fuglsang will start as the defending champion in the Mercan'Tour Classic Alpes Maritimes on Tuesday. The Danish cyclist had a challenging spring season and admits that he is not yet in top form.

The leader of Israel-Premier Tech had a difficult spring due to inflammation in his testicle and only returned to racing in the Tour of Hungary. "I'm not as good as I was last year, but I'm glad to be back. I'm going to try my best nonetheless," he told Cycling Pro Net before the start.

Fuglsang remains optimistic about Tour de France

"It was a tough start to the year, and it took a long time for me to come back. Slowly but surely, I'm rebuilding myself, and I'm working hard to get back in top form for the Tour," said the Danish cyclist.

"There is still some time, so I believe it should work out before the Tour," he continued. "If not in the first week, then I should be fine in the second and third."
