This is the page for the Giro d'Italia 2023. The 106th edition starts on May 6th in the Italian Abruzzo (in the southeast of Italy) and finishes on May 28th with a sprint stage in Rome. With three time trials, a grueling third week, a handful of sprint opportunities, and plenty of chances for attackers, a tough and varied course is ready. Below, you will find all the information you need to start reading up and preparing for the Tour of Italy!
RCS Sport revealed the route of the 2023 Giro d'Italia on the evening of Monday, October 17th. The race is characterized by three individual time trials (seventy kilometers against the clock in total!), four to six sprint opportunities, five to six hill stages, and seven official mountain stages. For the first time since 2018, the round is concluded with a road stage instead of a time trial.
There are no 'major' transfers abroad planned, which results in only two rest days. In recent years, the race often started beyond the Italian border and we saw a rest day after just three days of racing. Also notable: The organization has scheduled no fewer than six stages with a distance of over 200 kilometers. Moreover, there are three stages that contain more than 5000 meters of elevation gain!
